Strategic Consultation Committee between Oman and Iran meets

The Strategic Consultation Committee between the Sultanate of Oman and the Islamic Republic of Iran held its 10th meeting in Tehran.

The Omani delegation was chaired by Sheikh Khalifa Alharthy, Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Political Affairs, and the Iranian delegation was chaired by Ali Bagheri, Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs.

The meeting discussed ways of enhancing cooperation in the economic, consular, cultural and maritime security fields and how to overcome obstacles in investment and tourism exchanges.

There was also an exchange of views on regional and international issues of common concern. Oman and Iran reiterated their call to the international community to stop the Israeli genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza.

The Committee said an immediate ceasefire was essential to lift the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip, provide humanitarian aid and hold Israel accountable for its continued violations of international law.

The meeting was attended by a number of officials from both foreign ministries.
