His Majesty and German President hold talks

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and President Dr Frank-Walter Steinmeier of the Federal Republic of Germany held a round of official talks at the Bellevue Presidential Palace in Berlin today.

At the outset of the session, President Steinmeier expressed his great delight at the visit of His Majesty to Germany. He hailed the deep-rooted relations between the two countries.

His Majesty in turn expressed his deep appreciation for the hospitality accorded him and his accompanying delegation. His Majesty expressed Oman's pride in the strong ties of friendship binding the Sultanate and the Federal Republic of Germany.

The session also discussed prospects for joint cooperation between the two countries and ways to support and develop it in various fields to achieve the hopes and aspirations of the two friendly peoples. The talks also touched on a number of issues of common concern in the regional and international arenas.

The session was attended from the Omani side by General Sultan Mohammed Al Nu’amani, Minister of the Royal Office; Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, Foreign Minister; Dr Hamad Said Al Aufi, Head of the Private Office; Abdussalam Mohammed Al Murshidi, Chairman of Oman Investment Authority; Engineer Salim Nasser Al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals and Sayyid Dr Sultan Yaarub Al Busaidi, Adviser to the Private Office.

From the German side the session was attended by Dr Tobias Lindner, State Minister at the Federal Foreign Office; Cerstin Gammelin, Spokesperson of the Federal President; Thomas Schneider, German Ambassador to Oman; Captain Alexander Dubnitzki, Head of the Private Office at the Federal Presidency and Joost Schmallenbach, Head of the Division for General Foreign Policy and Relations with the Americas, the Middle East, North Africa, international organisations and non-governmental organisations, as well as a number of officials.
