Oman and India hold strategic dialogue talks

The Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of India held a strategic dialogue meeting on January 17th and 18th in New Delhi.

The Omani side at the 8th session of talks was headed by Major General Idris Abdulrahman Al Kindi, Secretary General of the National Security Council, with the participation of Issa Saleh Al Shibani, Oman's Ambassador to India. The Indian side was headed by Vikram Misri, Deputy National Security Advisor.

The talks discussed the two sides’ commitment to close strategic partnership, highlighting the priority of the leaderships of the two countries to consolidate the existing bilateral strategic relations based on mutual confidence and respect.

The two sides also touched on various issues of common concern and reiterated their determination to maintain maritime security and safety in the region. They also underscored the need for collective action in combating terrorism.

The two sides agreed to hold the next round of strategic dialogue talks in Oman in 2024.

Within the context of the strategic dialogue, the Secretary General of the National Security Council met with Ajit Doval, National Security Advisor of the Republic of India.

The Omani delegation visited the Space Research Organisation in Bangalore, where they learnt more about India’s experience in this field and the scope for international cooperation. They also visited the Indian Institute of Science, the leading research centre in India.
