His Majesty the Sultan visits Qatar Foundation and National Library
His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik, accompanied by HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar visited the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development in Doha as part of His Majesty’s visit to Qatar.
His Majesty the Sultan listened to a briefing about the objectives of the Qatar Foundation and its role in promoting education, research, community development, innovation and entrepreneurship. The Qatar Foundation houses branches of international universities and hosts programmes of cooperation with educational establishments in the Sultanate of Oman. His Majesty and Sheikh Tamim toured the venues of world universities, research centres, and academic facilities affiliated to the Qatar Foundation.
Later, His Majesty the Sultan and Sheikh Tamim visited Qatar National Library. They were briefed about the main functions of the building, which comprises a wide range of sources, reference books, manuscripts and archives serving researchers and students reading in different disciplines.
His Majesty the Sultan accepted a souvenir commemorating his Royal visit to the National Library and Research Centre.
At the conclusion of the tour, His Majesty the Sultan signed the Visitors’ Register, hailing the efforts of Qatar, led by Sheikh Tamim, in upgrading education, innovation and community development.
His Majesty the Sultan was accompanied during both visits by the Head and members of the Mission of Honour and members of the official delegation accompanying His Majesty.
