Awards ceremony rounds off Foreign Ministry Ramadan football tournament

The final of the Ramadan football tournament for Foreign Ministry employees saw the Al Dhahirah team beat the Al Sharqiya team 2-1 in an exciting and closely fought match.

Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Mohammed Alwahaibi, presented awards at the closing ceremony, in the presence of a number of ambassadors and Ministry officials.

After the final, prizes were awarded to those who excelled in the tournament. Mohammed Alsiyabi was honoured as the tournament's top scorer, Essam Albalushi won the award for the best goalkeeper, while Mohammed Alhamidi received the award for the best player in the tournament.

Presenting the championship cup and gold medals to the Al Sharqiya team won and silver medals to the Al Dhahirah team, Undersecretary Mohammed Alwahaibi congratulated the supervisors and workers who made the tournament a success and everyone who contributed and worked on it. He also paid tribute to the referees.

The tournament was launched on the second of the blessed month of Ramadan, with more than 70 employees taking part. They were divided into six teams bearing the names of Omani governorates, with intense competition between the participating teams.

The Foreign Ministry is keen to make the tournament an annual event with the aim of  encouraging friendship and cooperation among Ministry employees taking part and creating a spirit of honest competition among them.
