Oman's Foreign Minister holds talks with Lithuanian counterpart

Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, held a session of talks and political consultations today in the Lithuanian capital, Vilnius, with Gabrielius Landsbergis, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Lithuania.

The session affirmed the two countries keenness to enhance various aspects of cooperation, notably in economic, commercial, investment and cultural fields.

The talks, which also dealt with areas of transport, energy, science and technology, covered ways of achieving shared benefits and serving the peoples of the two countries by exploring promising new opportunities.

The two sides also exchanged views on a number of current regional and international issues of common concern, affirming their consistent and shared positions on adhering to the principles of justice and international law, and respect for the Charter of the United Nations. They called for the maintenance of international peace and security, along with respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, and non-interference in their internal affairs. They stressed their commitment to seeking peaceful solutions to differences and disputes through diplomatic means in a manner that achieves peace and stability in the world.

As part of his official visit, Sayyid Badr also held a number of meetings with business leaders of Lithuanian companies active in the fields of real estate and tourism development, facilities management, air services, logistics and information technology. During these meetings they reviewed the experiences of these companies and discussed the investment opportunities available in Oman, as well as possible areas of cooperation between the two friendly countries.

The meetings were attended by Ambassador Khalid Almuslahi, Head of the Department of the Minister's Office; Boleta Senkiene, Oman's Honorary Consul to the Republic of Lithuania and a number of officials from both sides.
