Minister of the Royal Office receives US Special Envoy for Yemen

General Sultan Mohammed Al Nu'amani, Minister of the Royal Office, received in Muscat today Tim Lenderking, the United States (US) Special Envoy for Yemen.

During the meeting, Mr Lenderking conveyed the thanks of US President Jo Biden to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik for the success of Omani endeavours to get the Yemeni truce extended, along with the President’s appreciation of Oman’s support for efforts exerted by the United Nations and the United States to find a permanent and peaceful solution to the Yemeni crisis.

The meeting also discussed UN proposals to expand and stabilise the provisions of the truce, as well as the efforts to tackle pressing humanitarian and economic issues in Yemen. It was agreed that it was important to continue joint action in this regard.

General Al Nu’amani thanked the US Special Envoy for his efforts with regard to the Yemeni crisis. He affirmed that the Sultanate of Oman will keep up its stance, in partnership with all parties concerned, to reach a final and comprehensive settlement and to establish permanent peace and security.

The meeting was attended by Leslie M Tsou,  US Ambassador to Oman; Steven Fagin, US Ambassador to Yemen and the delegation accompanying the guest.
