The Consulate, through Oman's Foreign Ministry, works to strengthen ties of cooperation and to consolidate the existing friendly relations between the Sultanate and Zanzibar.

Bilateral relations
Oman and Zanzibar enjoy cordial relations, reflected in their close friendship and in diverse areas of cooperation that have flourished and expanded annually.
The history of partnership has been marked by progressive joint efforts in advancing social, cultural and economic development for the prosperity of the people of our two brotherly countries.
Oman and Zanzibar have signed a number of Agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) to encourage relations and investment by creating a favourable environment and building investors' confidence. These include:
- An MoU on the feasibility study of Manga Pwani Port
- An MoU on cooperation in higher education between Oman and Zanzibar
- An Agreement on cooperation in records and archives
- An MOU on fish farming
Consular services
The Consulate of the Sultanate of Oman offers a range of consular services both to Omani citizens visiting Zanzibar and to Zanzibari citizens or residents wishing to visit Oman for tourism or business purposes. These services cover:
Key objectives
The Consulate has responsibility for promoting the relationship and cooperation between Zanzibar and Oman. The Consulate’s mission to Zanzibar includes:
- Maintenance, promotion and expansion of good political relations between Oman and Zanzibar
- Preserving Omani historical sites in Zanzibar
- Promoting investment
- Promoting cultural and educational exchanges
- Promoting tourism
- Protecting the interests of Omani citizens in Zanzibar

Bilateral relations between the Sultanate of Oman and Zanzibar are characterised by mutual understanding at the highest levels. Oman and Zanzibar are bound by historical bonds that date back hundreds of years.
Oman and Zanzibar are keen to maintain strong bilateral relations cooperation in all fields.
Trade and investment
Oman and Zanzibar have maintained strong cooperation in the area of trade and investment over the years. They also strive to create new opportunities.
Cultural, educational and scientific exchanges
Oman works to promote cultural understanding and mutually beneficial partnerships with Zanzibar. The Mission also works to encourage cooperation between scientific and literary bodies in the Sultanate and Zanzibar.
