Published On: 14 October 2023

During a phone call between Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman and Antony Blinken, Secretary of State of the United States of America, the current, dangerous situation in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories was discussed.

Sayyid Badr and Antony Blinken talked about the ongoing escalation that is impacting the civilian population in Gaza. They discussed the urgent need to secure a truce, to open corridors and airspace for urgent humanitarian missions and to restart electricity and water plants.

During the conversation, in light of the international condemnation of the attacks and killings that have occurred and are taking place, including those against against children and defenceless civilians, Sayyid Badr said that extremism generates violence and that violence only leads to extremism.

The international community therefore has a moral and legal responsibility, he added, to break this cycle and move toward achieving a just and comprehensive peace for the Palestinian cause, restoring the legitimate Palestinian right to end the illegal Israeli occupation.
