The Gulf Cooperation Council has condemned Israel's call for the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza.

Secretary General Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi rejected and denounced the statements from the Israeli government.

In an official statement, Mr AlBudaiwi said, “These statements reflect Israel’s negative and hostile intentions towards the peace process in the Middle East and represent a threat to the stability of the region and an obstacle to efforts to achieve peace. They are also considered a dangerous escalation that may lead to increasing regional tensions.”

He stressed the firm commitment of GCC members towards the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with full sovereignty over the lands occupied in 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The Secretary General stressed the need for the international community to work together for peace in the region and to find a just solution to the Palestinian issue. He called for an end to irresponsible and inflammatory statements from Israel.

Mr AlBudaiwi also condemned yesterday's two bombings at a shrine in Iran's Kerman Province in which 95 people were killed and 211 injured. He said the GCC rejected all forms of violence, extremism and terrorism which aimed to destabilise security and were inconsistent with humanitarian values and principles.
