Passengers travelling through Oman's airports rise nearly 17%

The number of passengers travelling through Oman's airports increased by 16.8 percent by the end of March 2024 to 3.84 million compared to 3.29 million at the end of March 2023.

Preliminary figures issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information showed that 3,482,325 passengers travelled through Muscat International Airport, an increase of 17.7 percent. They travelled on 25,204 flights, an increase of 13.8 percent by the end of March 2024.

There were 23,237 international flights on which 3,232,76 passengers travelled and 1,967 domestic flights on which 250,249 passengers travelled.

Indian nationals topped the number of passengers travelling through Muscat International Airport during the month of March with the number of arrivals reaching 79,810 passengers and 77,646 departing passengers.

That was followed by Bangladeshi nationals with 14,469 arriving passengers and 20,909 departing passengers, then Pakistani nationals with 24,097 arriving passengers and 20,191 departing passengers.

The number of passengers travelling through Salalah Airport reached 325,035, an increase of 6.7 percent. They travelled on 2,288 flights, an increase of 4.8 percent.

There were 1,218 flights international flights through Salalah Airport carrying 162,651 passengers, while there were 1,070 domestic flights carrying 162,384 passengers.

The number of passengers travelling through Sohar Airport reached 17,462 on 154 flights, while the number of passengers travelling through Duqm Airport reached 15,532 passengers on 156 flights.
