
Oman participates in the Gulf-Egyptian ministerial meeting
The Sultanate of Oman participated in the third joint ministerial meeting between the Foreign Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and Dr. Badr Abdel Aati, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration of the Arab Republic of Egypt, which was held in Makkah Al-Mukarramah.
The delegation of the Sultanate of Oman was headed by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Albusaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The meeting, chaired by His Excellency Abdullah bin Ali Al-Yahya, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait and Chairman of the current session of the Ministerial Council, reviewed bilateral relations between the GCC countries and the Arab Republic of Egypt and ways to enhance them in various political, economic, cultural, security and other fields.
The meeting stressed the importance of the strategic partnership between the two sides to achieve common interests and meet the aspirations and directives of the leaders of the participating countries.
The meeting also praised the role played by the State of Qatar and the Arab Republic of Egypt, in cooperation with the United States of America, in the successful mediation that led to the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, which contributed to reducing the escalation, protecting civilians, and facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, in preparation for the resumption of an initiative that seeks to achieve a permanent ceasefire and helps prepare the atmosphere for diplomatic work aimed at reviving efforts to achieve comprehensive and just peace for the Palestinian cause based on the two-state solution, international legitimacy resolutions, and the Arab Peace Initiative.
The Gulf-Egyptian meeting also discussed a number of developments on the regional and international arenas, and exchanged views on them.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador Sheikh Ahmed bin Hashel Al Maskari, Head of the GCC and Regional Neighbourhood Department, Salim bin Mohammed Albusaidi, Consul General of the Sultanate of Oman in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and a number of officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
