Florin-Marius Tacu was accredited by the President of Romania, His Excellency Klaus-Werner Iohannis, as Ambassador of Romania to the Sultanate of Oman in April 2022. On October 18, 2022, Ambassador Tacu presented his credentials to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik Al Said.
After graduating in 1998 from the Faculty of Law of the University Al. I. Cuza Iaşi, Mr Tacu started his career in the Iaşi Court. In 2003 he briefly held the position of vice-president of this court.
From April 2004, Florin-Marius Tacu worked for a year in several departments within the Ministry of Justice, including the position of Deputy Director of the Litigation Department.
Mr Tacu continued his career in the Bucharest Court of Appeal and from July 2005, in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Between July 2005 and April 2010, he worked in the General Inspection of Foreign Affairs, where he held the position of Deputy Inspector General (from November 2006), and later that of Inspector General of Foreign Affairs (from February 2008, until March 2010).
Between April 2010 and July 2015, Florin-Marius Tacu was Consul General of the Consulate General of Romania in Shanghai, in the People's Republic of China, whose jurisdiction covered, in addition to the City of Shanghai, the provinces of Anhui, Jiangsu and Zhejiang.
Starting from May 2014, until the end of his term as Consul General, he was also the Dean of the Consular Corps in Shanghai.
From December 2015 he held the position of State Secretary in the Prime Minister's Chancellery. Between September 2016 and January 2017 he exercised the duties of the Secretary General of the Government, with the rank of Minister.
Florin-Marius Tacu was accredited by the President of Romania in the capacity of ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Singapore in April 2017.
During the period September 2021 – April 2022, Ambassador Tacu was Dean of the Diplomatic and Consular Corps in Singapore.
Florin-Marius Tacu completed master's studies in law at Shanghai Jiaotong University. He also completed a postgraduate course in public international law organised by the Law Faculty of the University of Bucharest and a course in international relations and Euro-Atlantic studies organised by the Romanian Diplomatic Institute.
Mr Tacu was born on July 5, 1976, in Vaslui municipality, Vaslui county. He is married and has a son. He is fluent in English and French and has a basic knowledge of Chinese.
