Delegated by His Majesty, Sayyid Asaad heads visit to Omani Pavilion’s 51st National Day celebration

Delegated by His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik, His Highness Sayyid Asaad bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs and Personal Representative of His Majesty the Sultan, today led a delegation taking part in the celebrations of Oman's 51st National Day at the Omani Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The delegation comprised Sayyid Hamood Faisal Al Busaidi, Interior Minister; Qais Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion and a number of senior officials.

Sayyid Asa'ad and his accompanying delegation were received at the Leadership Pavilion by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence and Commissioner General of Expo 2020 Dubai and Reem Ebrahim Al Hashimi, Minister of State for International Cooperation and Director-General of Expo 2020 Dubai.

The ceremony which was held at Al Wasl Plaza, Expo 2020 Dubai, began with the hoisting the Sultanate of Oman’s flag and the playing of the Royal Anthem.

In his speech read out by Qais Al Yousef, Sayyid Asaad said: “Oman’s participation in this international event stems from the deep-rooted relations of the two countries.”

Through its participation in this major global event, the speech continued, the Sultanate of Oman demonstrates to visitors to Oman’s pavilion the aspirations of government institutions and private establishments, their innovations, and the contributions of Omani Youth – the mainstay of the nation’s future.

The speech added that the Omani pavilion embodied the talents of Omani youth, who made up the entire team involved in the management and development of the pavilion’s content.

Oman’s pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai takes its visitors on an inspirational journey that reflects the interaction of minds across the ages. It tells the story of modern Oman’s age-old experience, laying emphasis on true opportunities and the Sultanate's bright future within the context of Oman Vision 2040.

Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan, United Arab Emirates’ Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, in turn said: “Today we, at Expo 2020 Dubai, celebrate the Sultanate of Oman’s National Day”. He expressed his best wishes for His Majesty the Sultan, congratulated the government and wished the Omani people further progress and prosperity.

A military band (comprising the Royal Guards of Oman and the Royal Cavalry) put on an impressive musical performance that appealed to a large crowd of visitors.

Sayyid Asaad and his accompanying delegation then went on a tour of the Omani Pavilion and viewed its contents, which highlight four main themes: Sustainability, Youth Care, Communication and Knowledge. It showcases various aspects of domestic development in Oman and the country’s Renewed Renaissance and future visions.

His Highness listened to a briefing about the three main sections within the pavilion: “The Frankincense Tree” (ground floor), “Sustainability” and “The Harvest” (first floor), and “The Future” (second floor).

Sayyid Asaad later visited the UAE pavilion and was received, along with his delegation, by Sheikh Hamdan Mohammed Rashid Al Maktoum, Heir Apparent of Dubai  and Chairman of the UAE Executive Council, and Sheikh Ahmed Said Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Aviation Authority  and Chairman of Dubai Expo 2020 Supreme Committee. The pavilion offers an overview of the UAE’s growth and includes exhibits reflecting the country’s culture and achievements. On the sidelines of the ceremony, various popular shows were held, along with a military music show in the corridors of the pavilion.

In a statement to Oman News Agency, Sayyid Dr. Ahmed Hilal Al Busaidi, Ambassador of Sultanate of Oman to the United Arab Emirates said : “Undoubtedly, His Majesty the Sultan's delegation of HH Sayyid Asa'ad bin Tarik al-Said, Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs and Personal Representative of His Majesty the Sultan and the high-level accompanying delegation, reflect the sincere appreciation and attention accorded by the Sultanate of Oman and its wise leadership to the sisterly United Arab Emirates, its leadership and people, and to Expo 2020 which is being held for the first time in the Middle East, in Dubai.”

The Sultanate of Oman seeks to achieve a successful and distinguished participation in Expo 2020 Dubai by shedding light on its civilised and cultural heritage and its bright future, the ambassador added. He pointed out that Oman's participation at Expo 2020 Dubai is in line with the themes presented at this global event and is consistent with Oman's visions and aspirations.

The ambassador further said that through this participation, the Sultanate of Oman aims to highlight its geography, history and civilisation, as well as the development achievements accomplished in various fields. He added that many activities will be organised on the sidelines of Expo 2020, namely the Omani Products Exhibition, the Small and Medium Enterprises Exhibition and Oman Investment Week.
