The Foreign Ministry helps Omani travellers around the world.

Omani citizens travel the world to study, or for medical treatment, to do business, for tourism, to attend meetings or conferences, undertake Hajj and Umrah, and to visit holy places.

The Embassies and Consulates of the Sultanate around the world are happy to provide services and assistance to such Omani citizens.

Lost passport

In the case of an Omani citizen who has lost his/her travel document (passport or ID card), the Sultanate’s missions will facilitate the issue of a laissez-passer (travel permit).

Newborn babies

The Sultanate’s missions will register the birth of newborn babies, born abroad of Omani parents and issue them with travel documents, after the requirements and conditions pertaining to newborns in the country of birth have been fulfilled.

Theft or assault

In the case of an Omani citizen who is a victim of theft or assault while abroad, the Sultanate’s missions will help him/her to contact the relevant authorities in that country.

Accidents and death

If an Omani national has an accident while abroad, the Sultanate’s missions will facilitate the procedures to take the injured person to hospital and will follow up on his condition.

In the case of an Omani national who passes away while abroad, the Sultanate’s missions will coordinate with the relevant authorities in that country to establish the cause of death, contact the deceased’s family, ensure the preservation of the deceased's body and facilitate the procedures for returning the body to Oman.

Arrest or detention

In the case of an Omani citizen who is arrested, detained, or imprisoned abroad, he/she must contact the Sultanate’s mission in that country. The mission will then contact the authorities concerned in that country to verify the case.

Social security

The Sultanate’s missions undertake the task of following up on the status of families’ social security claims while abroad, in coordination with the Ministry of Social Development.
