As part of the Sultanate of Oman’s hosting of talks on the Iranian nuclear issue, Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi held separate consultations with the Iranian delegation, led by Foreign Minister Dr Abbas Araghchi, and the US delegation, led by the US President’s Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

The discussions focused on creating suitable conditions to resume diplomatic and technical negotiations. The talks highlighted their importance in light of the parties’ commitment to ensuring their success and sustaining security and stability.

Sayyid Badr renewed Oman’s commitment to supporting dialogue and bringing the delegations closer together. He affirmed Oman’s readiness to work with partners to reach political solutions that align with the intended goals and aspirations. He also expressed deep appreciation for the efforts of countries in the region supporting these talks.
Commenting after the consultations on the X social media platform, Sayyid Badr said the talks had been “very serious”.
“It was useful to clarify both Iranian and American thinking and identify areas for possible progress,” he said.
“We aim to reconvene in due course, with the results to be considered carefully in Tehran and Washington,” he added.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Dr Seyed Abbas Araghchi said in a statement to Oman TV that he was grateful to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik for hosting the Iranian-US talks in the Sultanate of Oman.
He also thanked Oman for the facilities provided during the negotiations, which enabled Iran to speak with the US delegation. He praised the efforts of Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi in this regard.
Dr Araghchi said the talks with the US delegation took place in a positive atmosphere. The delegations exchanged views and set out their concerns and interests regarding a possible agreement on the nuclear issue.
He concluded that the start of the talks had been positive. He said the next step would involve discussing these issues further and preparing for the upcoming round of talks.
