Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, Foreign Minister, received Luigi Di Maio, the European Union’s Special Representative for the Gulf Region.
The meeting discussed ways to halt the ongoing conflict in the region. They also discussed the conflict’s repercussions on the security and stability of nations, as well as its impact on international navigation and energy supplies.
The discussion emphasised the importance of aligning and integrating regional and international efforts, and in this context, pushing for channels of dialogue and peaceful and legal solutions.
It stressed the necessity of de-escalation through the cessation of military actions, as well as the importance of adhering to the principles of international law and international humanitarian law, and respect for the sovereignty of states. The meeting stressed the need for diplomatic efforts to address crises and achieve sustainable security and stability.
Commenting on the X social media platform Sayyid Badr said that during the meeting he shared Oman’s acute concern to bring peace to the region.
“Any reasonable assessment of the facts leads to the clear conclusion that the United States and Iran have a strong shared interest in ending this war right now,” he added.
