Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi held a series of meetings with Foreign Ministers from various countries, as well as senior officials and representatives of international organisations, on the sidelines of the Sultanate of Oman’s participation in the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Sayyid Badr met Dr Johann Wadephul, Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of Germany.

The meeting covered a range of issues of mutual interest on the agenda of the UN General Assembly, particularly regional developments in the Middle East, the Gulf and Europe.

The two Ministers also discussed Omani-German relations and opportunities to build on existing cooperation and expand it into new areas, advancing mutual interests and strengthening the economic partnership between the two countries.

The Minister also met Dr Abdullah Al Alimi Bawazir, Vice-President of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council.

They discussed the close relations between Oman and the Republic of Yemen and ways to support the work of the joint committee responsible for promoting the exchange of expertise and developing partnerships that benefit both countries and their peoples.

The meeting also reviewed the latest developments in Yemen and efforts to build consensus among the various Yemeni parties to achieve peace and reconciliation.

The meeting highlighted the importance of creating conditions conducive to an inclusive Yemeni dialogue leading to a comprehensive, consensus-based political settlement that fulfils the aspirations of the Yemeni people and safeguards Yemen’s unity, sovereignty, security and stability.

Commenting on the meeting on the X social media platform Sayyid Badr said: “I affirmed Oman’s steadfast supportive stance toward peace efforts and reaching a comprehensive political solution that preserves Yemen’s security and stability.”

Sayyid Badr also met His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Mateen, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brunei Darussalam.

They discussed the friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries, ways to build on their growing ties and opportunities to expand their partnership for the mutual benefit of both countries and their peoples.

The meeting also saw an exchange of views on a number of regional and international issues. The Ministers highlighted the importance of continued consultations, strengthening mutual understanding and supporting dialogue to resolve differences and safeguard regional and international security and stability.

The Foreign Minister also met with  Kaja Kallas, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission.

They reviewed cooperation between Oman and the European Union and discussed ways to strengthen it in diplomatic and technical fields to serve their mutual interests.

The meeting also covered the latest regional developments and efforts to address them through diplomatic and political means, de-escalate tensions and support security and stability.

Sayyid Badr also met Sirojiddin Muhriddin, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan.

They discussed the development of Omani-Tajik relations and opportunities to build on their growing ties to expand cooperation, advance mutual interests and strengthen friendship between the two countries and their peoples.

The two Ministers also discussed a number of issues of mutual interest and exchanged views on regional and international issues and how to support the peaceful settlement of disputes and strengthen security and stability.

Sayyid Badr also met with Dr Velislava Petrova Shamova, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria.

The meeting discussed bilateral relations and prospects for cooperation in various fields. The Ministers also discussed issues of mutual interest and regional and international developments. They exchanged views on political solutions to crises that would support security and stability.
