Energy Ministry to launch Oman Hydrogen Company

Oman's Ministry of Energy and Minerals will hold a press conference on Sunday to announce the official launch of the Sultanate’s hydrogen company – Oman Hydrogen LLC.

The event will also announce opportunities and incentives for investment in the green hydrogen sector and the establishment of the Oman Centre for Sustainability.

Click here to view the live stream.The press conference will discuss the details of His Majesty’s directives on setting 2050 as the target date for achieving net-zero carbon emissions in the Sultanate and the establishment of the Oman Centre for Sustainability.

These directives are in line with the global transformation now gathering pace as part of worldwide plans to reduce carbon emissions.

The Ministry of Energy has recently taken important steps towards accelerating the establishment of procedures for regulating the hydrogen sector in Oman. These include laying out the legal framework and policies necessary for the sector’s growth, allocating appropriate sites for hydrogen production in order to help attract investment, as well as working to source in Oman the technology needed and to launch the research needed.

The consequences of managing emissions to achieve carbon neutrality are important steps that will have a positive impact on the Sultanate of Oman.

Carbon management will contribute to diversifying the economy and sources of income. It will create opportunities for sustainable economic and social growth, while achieving a balance between sustainable development and limiting the repercussions of climate change.

Oman and its knowledge economy will benefit greatly from the clean technology and the diversification of energy sources that will be an essential part of managing emissions to achieving sustainability.
