Oman's Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi received Ambassador Wolfgang Amadeus Brülhart, the Swiss Special Envoy to the Middle East and North Africa.

During the meeting, they reviewed relations between Oman and Switzerland and ways to enhance and diversify cooperation in the economic, commercial and cultural fields.

The Minister and the Ambassador followed up on the agreements and memoranda of understanding – especially in the fields of Omani-Swiss mediation, renewable energy and tourism –  that were signed during the official visit of Alain Berset, President of the Swiss Confederation, to Oman in November 2023.

They also exchanged views on current regional and international developments, especially the repercussions of the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and the necessity of an immediate ceasefire to allow aid deliveries, stop escalation, contain the conflict in the region and establish a just peace based on the two-state solution.

The meeting was attended by Ambassador Sheikh Humaid Almaani, Head of the Foreign Ministry's Global Affairs Department, and Ambassador Munther Almandhari, Head of the Foreign Ministry's Europe Department.

Also in attendance were Thomas Oertel, Switzerland's Ambassador to Oman; Marilyn Rao, Deputy Regional Coordinator of the Swiss Middle East Department, and a number of officials from both countries.
