Foreign Minister chairs meeting of GCC Ministerial Council

Oman's Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, chaired the 157th session of the Ministerial Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), which was held today at the GCC headquarters in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The meeting was attended by the Foreign Ministers of the GCC countries and the GCC Secretary General.

Speaking at the opening of the meeting, Sayyid Badr said that since its establishment, the GCC has developed communication and opened areas of cooperation with various countries and groupings in order to further mutual interests, security, stability, development and prosperity for all.

The Foreign Minister spoke of the meetings held by the Council at all levels with countries and groupings to further all areas of cooperation. He said this was a laudable trend, which helps achieve the aspirations and hopes of the peoples of the GCC countries.

The Ministerial Council discussed the topics on the agenda and reviewed the efforts undertaken by the committees working within the framework of the Gulf Cooperation Council and the General Secretariat to implement the decisions of the Supreme Council of the GCC with regard to strengthening joint Gulf action in all fields.

The Council also reviewed the latest developments in joint Gulf action and developments in political issues both regionally and internationally.

Commenting after the Council, Sayyid Badr said the meeting had displayed a constructive and fruitful spirit on the path of joint Gulf cooperation. He expressed his appreciation of his brother ministers and all the efforts exerted in order to strengthen the onward progress of the Council and to secure further achievements.
