Foreign Minister meets President of Maldives
Oman's Foreign Minister, Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, met with Dr Mohamed Muizzu, President of the Republic of Maldives on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
During the meeting, Sayyid Badr conveyed the greetings of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, along with His Majesty's best wishes to the President and the friendly people of the Maldives for continued growth and prosperity.
He also conveyed his Majesty’s wishes for further progress in the relations between Oman and the Maldives.
The President expressed his greetings and appreciation to His Majesty, along with his good wishes for His Majesty, for the people of Oman and for the strengthening of relations between the two friendly nations.
The meeting also discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations, particularly in tourism, the environment and sustainable development. The focus was on boosting trade and investment exchanges between Oman and the Maldives.
Sayyid Badr and President Muizzu expressed their eagerness to develop economic cooperation and explore new investment opportunities, especially in the marine and environmental sectors, which are of great importance to both Oman and the Maldives.
They discussed common challenges presented by climate change and ways to cooperate in this field, stressing the need to enhance joint efforts to achieve environmental sustainability and preserve natural resources.
Views were also exchanged on a number of regional and international issues of common interest.
