Foreign Minister speaks to Indian Ocean Conference

Oman's Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, spoke this morning via video link at the sixth Indian Ocean Conference.

The Conference was opened yesterday by the Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the capital Dhaka, under the theme “Peace, Prosperity and Partnership for a Resilient Future.”

In his speech, Sayyid Badr stressed the commitment of the Sultanate of Oman to strengthening cooperation and achieving stability in the Indian Ocean region as well as the importance of encouraging constructive relations between countries to resolve differences through dialogue.

He stressed the firm position of Oman in supporting peaceful coexistence, stating that the ideology of tolerance and dialogue is rooted in the beliefs, values and principles of peace established in Omani society.

The Minister also spoke of the importance of economic prosperity by ensuring the steadfastness of the Indian Ocean region.

He stressed the need for sustainable economic development, investment in key sectors and the promotion of active trade partnerships between countries. He also underlined the importance of respecting international law and constructive cooperation in tackling the challenges facing the Indian Ocean region.

The annual Indian Ocean Conference is an important platform that brings together policy makers, diplomats, scholars and experts from all over the world to discuss major issues affecting the Indian Ocean region, with the aim of promoting peace, stability and prosperity in the region.
