Oman denounces targeting of school in Gaza

Published On: 19 November 2023

Oman has condemned Israel’s continued unjustified military attacks against the Palestinian people, including the  massacre that targeted the Al Fakhoura School run by UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the near East), which resulted in the death of civilians displaced from the northern Gaza Strip.

In an official Foreign Ministry statement the Sultanate sent its condolences to the families of those killed and its best wishes for a speedy recovery for the wounded.

The statement adds that Oman values the steadfastness of the brave Palestinian people in the face of injustice, aggression and the continued Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories, in flagrant violation of international law and United Nations Security Council resolutions.

The statement also renews the Sultanate's call on the international community to take practical steps to impose deterrent sanctions on Israel to stop its aggression and the crimes it commits against civilians.

It says these crimes, including Israel's continued imposition of an inhumane blockade on the Gaza Strip, depriving people of basic necessities including fuel, water, food and medicine, display a contempt and disregard for the human soul and human dignity.

The statement adds that these actions are a blatant violation of United Nations charters and international norms, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
