His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik arrived in the State of Kuwait today on a two-day state visit.

Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, Emir of Kuwait led the welcoming party for His Majesty the Sultan at the Amiri Airport in Kuwait, wishing His Majesty and his accompanying delegation a pleasant stay.

Alongside the Emir of Kuwait, His Majesty was also received by Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah Al Ahmad Al Sabah, Prime Minister; Sheikh Sabah Khalid Hamad Al Sabah (Head of the Mission of Honour); Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence and Minister of Interior; Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah Al Mubarak Al Sabah, Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs; Sherida Abdullah Saad Al Maousherji, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Council of Ministers Affairs; Imad Mohammad Al Atiqi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Oil; Abdullah Ali Al Yahya, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Ahmad Fahad Al Fahad, Undersecretary of the Amiri Diwan; Dr Mohammed Nassir Al Hajri, Kuwait's Ambassador to Oman, senior Kuwaiti officials and members of the Omani Embassy in Kuwait.

Official reception protocols were conducted for His Majesty upon his arrival. When the Royal plane entered the airspace of Kuwait, it was escorted  by the Kuwaiti Air Force to the Amiri Airport.

There, the Emir of Kuwait received His Majesty. Passing between rows of a guard of honour, the two leaders headed to the Dais of Honour at the Amiri Hall, where the Omani Royal Anthem was played, followed by the Kuwaiti National Anthem.

His Majesty the Sultan then inspected the Guard of Honour, which gave the salute to His Majesty. His Majesty the Sultan shook hands with senior members of the Kuwaiti welcoming party, while the Emir of Kuwait shook hands with the members of the official delegation accompanying His Majesty, welcoming them and wishing them a pleasant stay.

Then, His Majesty, accompanied by the Emir, travelled by motorcade to Bayan Palace in the capital, Kuwait City.

As the motorcade of the two leaders left the airport, it was escorted by motorcycle outriders. A group of children lined the sides of the road, waving Omani and Kuwaiti flags in an emotional manifestation of friendship and fraternity, while helicopters carrying the flags of the two countries hovered over the ceremony.

Upon the arrival of the motorcade carrying the two leaders at Bayan Palace, the artillery fired a 21-gun salute to His Majesty the Sultan, while a group of cavalrymen surrounded the parade.

After that, a group of Kuwaiti folklore bands performed the art of the Ardha, chanted songs and poetic verses and rejoiced over the auspicious arrival of His Majesty the Sultan.

During the visit, His Majesty the Sultan is accompanied by a high-ranking official delegation comprising His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs; His Highness Sayyid Bilarab bin Haitham Al Said; Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court; General Sultan bin Mohammed Al Nomani, Minister of the Royal Office; Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi, Minister of Interior; Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister; Dr Hamad bin Said Al Aufi, Head of the Private Office; Abdussalam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi, Chairman of the Oman Investment Authority; Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion; and Dr Saleh Amer Alkharusi, Oman's Ambassador to Kuwait.
