Joint statement of the United Arab Emirates and the Sultanate of Oman
As an extension of the bonds of brotherhood and in consolidation of the close historical ties between the United Arab Emirates and the Sultanate of Oman, and as an embodiment of the relations of prosperous cooperation that bring together the two countries and their brotherly peoples, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik made a state visit to the United Arab Emirates at the head of a high-level delegation. This was in response to the kind invitation of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, on Monday April 22nd and Tuesday April 23rd, 2024.
During the visit, discussions were held in a spirit of brotherhood and solidarity that confirmed the results of the state visit made by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to the Sultanate of Oman in September 2022, and inaugurated a new phase of cooperation and fruitful strategic partnership between the two countries in all fields.
The two leaders also discussed regional and international developments of common interest and exchanged views on them. They stressed the strengthening of coordination in their positions in a way that serves common interests and strengthens the foundations of stability and security in the region, emphasising their positions calling for stability, security, prosperity and development for all countries and peoples of the region and the entire world.
Regarding regional affairs, and in the context of the developments taking place in the region, the two leaders called on regional parties to exercise the utmost levels of self-restraint to spare the region and its peoples from the dangers of escalation and instability. They stressed their position calling for adherence to international laws and resolving differences through diplomacy and dialogue, renewing their demands on the United Nations and the UN Security Council to carry out their responsibilities to promote international peace and security.
Regarding bilateral economic and investment matters, the two leaders praised the efforts made by the competent authorities in both countries to enhance bilateral cooperation. They stressed the importance of stimulating and encouraging the public and private sectors to develop and diversify trade and investment exchange, and the importance of establishing strategic partnerships that meet the aspirations of the peoples of the two countries and enhance the prospects for comprehensive cooperation in the future.
At the conclusion of the visit, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and to the Government and the brotherly Emirati people for their warm reception and generous hospitality, wishing the United Arab Emirates continued progress and prosperity.
For his part, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, expressed his best wishes to the Sultanate of Oman and the brotherly Omani people for further prosperity and well-being.
