Meeting of the Omani-Egyptian Joint Committee

The fifteenth meeting of the Omani-Egyptian Joint Committee took place in Muscat, today.

The Omani side was chaired by the Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, while the Egyptian side was chaired by Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.

The two sides reviewed bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and ways to develop them. They discussed what needs to be accomplished during the next stage to work towards strengthening cooperation in all areas, especially the economic, commercial and investment fields, to open up new prospects for cooperation between the two countries, in line with the aspirations of the two brotherly countries and peoples.

The two sides also discussed regional and international issues of common interest and expressed their satisfaction with the level of political consultation and coordination at various levels. They affirmed their keenness to work together in regional and international organisations and forums to achieve the aspirations of the two countries for international peace and security, expressing their commitment to continue strengthening work on this process.

The two sides approved a number of memoranda of understanding and executive programmes related to bilateral cooperation.

At the end of the session, the two foreign ministers signed a joint statement about the session.

The Foreign Minister the Arab Republic of Egypt also expressed his thanks and appreciation for the reception accorded to him and his accompanying delegation by their brothers in the Sultanate of Oman.
