Minister discusses regional developments with British Foreign Secretary
Oman's Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi received a phone call from David Lammy, the United Kingdom's Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs.
The call addressed the historical and strategic relations between the two countries and their commitment to continue working on enhancing economic interests and energy cooperation, including renewable energy, as well as security and defence collaboration.
The two Ministers also discussed developments in the region, emphasising the need to intensify regional and international efforts to halt military escalation and prevent any further deterioration of the humanitarian situation. They expressed concern over the increasing number of civilian casualties in Lebanon and the Palestinian territories, particularly in Gaza, and the rising risks this poses to regional stability.
Both Ministers stressed the importance of collective efforts within the responsibilities of the international community to achieve a comprehensive and just political solution to the Palestinian issue as the foundation for security and stability in the region. They agreed on the urgent necessity of opening safe humanitarian corridors for relief supplies into Gaza, supporting and empowering the Palestinian National Authority, and resuming full international support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
