The Embassy works to enhance cooperation and consolidate the friendly relationship between Oman and Russia.

Key objectives
The objectives of the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman to the Russian Federation include the following:
- Enhancing economic cooperation and partnership and facilitating trade and investment between the two countries.
- Achieving Oman's strategic goals and strengthening its relations with Russia in various fields, whether political, economic, cultural or scientific.
- Providing assistance to Omani delegations participating in official meetings and events in the Russian Federation.
- Encouraging cultural, educational and scientific exchange programmes.
- Promoting tourism.
Bilateral relations
Diplomatic relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Russian Federation were established on September 26th, 1985. In 1991 the Sultanate of Oman officially recognised Russia as the legitimate heir to the Soviet Union. Since then, the Russian Federation has been an important partner for Oman.
The Sultanate of Oman and the friendly Russian Federation enjoy good, solid and growing relations. This is due to the strong foundations laid by the leaderships of the two countries; the wise Omani leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and the Russian leadership of President Vladimir Putin.
Oman and Russia were, and are, keen to advance bilateral relations in order to serve the common interests of the two countries and their peoples.
The two countries are bound by bilateral agreements that enhance the process of cooperation in the political, parliamentary, cultural, economic, educational and health fields.
Political and economic relations between Oman and Russia are well developed and growing. They are reinforced by political consultations and meetings held between officials of the two countries as well as visits.
Political and diplomatic cooperation
Oman and Russia are working to build strong bilateral relations, especially within the framework of multilateral international forums.
This is based on respect for international law and on the belief that dialogue is the best way to resolve differences and so achieve peace and stability in the Gulf region, the Middle East and throughout the world.

The Embassy provides consular services for both Omani citizens visiting the Russian Federation and for citizens or residents of the Russian Federation wishing to visit the Sultanate for tourism or business purposes. These services cover the following:

Cultural and scientific exchange
Oman works with the Russian Federation to enhance cultural and scientific partnerships based on mutual benefits.
The Embassy is always looking for more opportunities for Omani students to study in suitable Russian universities. It is also continously seeking opportunities to promote cultural exchange. It organises many cultural events and activities to introduce the Russian people to Oman’s history, culture, customs and traditions.
