Omani Youth Day celebrated with launch of new Youth Centres

The Sultanate of Oman celebrated Omani Youth Day, which occurs annually on October 26, with a ceremony held at the Oman Across Ages Museum in Wilayat Manah, Al Dakhiliyah Governorate.

The event was sponsored by His Highness Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham bin Tarik Al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth.

The ceremony included the announcement of the winners of the Youth Excellence Award for this year in the fields of digital economy, digital media, environment, labour, entrepreneurship and youth initiatives.

This award aims to honour outstanding Omani youth, highlight efforts to serve young people and the community and encourage effective institutional initiatives. It also encourages motivation to develop skills to build a conscious, creative and responsible generation.

His Highness delivered a speech addressing the role of youth in achieving comprehensive development across the Sultanate.

“Knowledge, technology, and innovation,” he said, “are essential pillars for the country’s development journey and a driving force for the economy. Omani values, which we cherish for their authenticity and rootedness in our hearts, are like a towering mountain; they are the foundation stone.”

On the occasion of Omani Youth Day, the launch of Youth Centres in various governorates was announced to ensure accessibility and inclusivity for all youth groups in Oman.

The centres aim to discover and develop young people's skills and talents, provide consultations for their development and encourage creativity and innovation.

They also seek to strengthen cooperation with local, regional and international youth organisations and to integrate with governmental and private entities to support youth sectors.

More than 180,000 young men and women, as well as 538 institutions, have benefited from the Youth Centre project.
