Oman and Afghanistan affirm desire to develop cooperation

Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, Foreign Minister, received  Amir Khan Muttaqi, Acting Afghan Foreign Minister, who is visiting the Sultanate of Oman for several days.

During the meeting, the two Ministers exchanged friendly conversation in the context of the historical ties between the two friendly peoples and the cultural values, civilisational and human traditions that bind them.

Oman and Afghanistan affirm desire to develop cooperation

The two Ministers expressed their common desire to develop cooperation in various fields to benefit the two friendly peoples and countries.

They agreed to encourage the development of trade and investment opportunities in the area of food security.

They also agreed to enhance the exchange of knowledge and expertise through education and training programmes.

Sayyid Badr expressed Oman's support for efforts to facilitate Afghanistan's integration into the international community in a way that preserves its constructive and prestigious regional and international role.

Amir Khan Muttaqi stressed the importance of these meetings in opening new horizons for cooperation between the two countries.

He praised Oman's foreign policy and its approach based on respecting the sovereignty of states, without interference in internal affairs, promoting regional and international peace and stability, and giving priority to dialogue and diplomacy in addressing various issues.

The meeting was attended from Oman by Ambassador at large Sheikh Abdulaziz Alhinai, and from Afghanistan by Umar Ghulam Rashool, Chargé d'Affaires of the Afghan Embassy in Muscat, and a number of officials from Oman and Afghanistan.
