The Sultanate of Oman and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) signed today in Muscat an agreement regarding the hosting in Oman of the headquarters of the Advisory Board of the Supreme Council of the GCC, the Office of the GCC Network for Quality Assurance in Higher Education and the Centre for Translation, Arabisation, and Promotion of the Arabic Language.

The agreement was signed on behalf of the Government of the Sultanate of Oman, by Oman's Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi and by Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi, GCC Secretary General on behalf of the Gulf Cooperation Council .

The signing ceremony was also attended by Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada, Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Supreme Council of the GCC.

The agreement aims to enable the Board, the Office and the Centre to fulfil their responsibilities and meet their objectives effectively through the privileges and immunities stipulated within it.

The signing ceremony was attended by the Ambassadors of the GCC countries to the Sultanate of Oman; Ambassador Sheikh Dr Sulaiman bin Saud Al Jabri, Head of the Legal Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Ambassador Hamed bin Said Al Ibrahim, Director-General of the Advisory Board Office; Ambassador Najeeb bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Deputy Head of the GCC and Regional Affairs Department; Dr Abdullah bin Saif Al Toubi, Director of the Centre for Translation, Arabisation, and Promotion of the Arabic Language; and Badr bin Saif Al Kindi, Director of the Office of the GCC Network for Quality Assurance in Higher Education as well as a number of officials from the Foreign Ministry and the GCC General Secretariat.
