Oman and Iran hold talks
Sayyid Badr Hamad Albusaidi, Oman’s Foreign Minister had a session of talks with Dr Mohammad Javad Zarif, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Tehran this evening.
The session reviewed bilateral relations and joint cooperation between the two countries in different spheres. The two sides affirmed their keenness in enhancing those relations to serve their joint interests for the good of their peoples.
The session also touched on regional and international developments of mutual interest.
Sayyid Badr underscored the importance of continuing to work to find consensus in political solutions through peaceful dialogue and by backing all efforts to achieve peace and security in the region.
On his turn, Dr Zarif commended the historical relations between the two countries and the wise political role played by the Sultanate in dealing calmly with different issues. He also stressed the importance of joint and multilateral cooperation, as well as the endeavours to establish peace and stability.
The session was attended by Ibrahim Ahmed al-Mu’aini, Oman’s Ambassador to Iran and officials from the two countries’ foreign ministries.
Sayyid Badr arrived in Iran’s capital, Tehran earlier today, assigned by His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik to represent the Sultanate at the swearing-in ceremony of the Iranian President-elect Ebrahim Raisi. Sayyid Badr was received upon his arrival in Mehrabad International Airport by Iranian officials and members of the Omani embassy in Tehran.
