Oman denounces Israeli occupation of Syrian territories

10 December 2024

The Foreign Ministry expresses the Sultanate of Oman's condemnation and denunciation of the Israeli forces' occupation of new parts of Syrian territory in the buffer zone and their violation of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement, while continuing their military bombardment of sites in the capital Damascus and other areas, resulting in the deaths of a number of unarmed civilians.

This represents a clear violation of international law and Security Council resolutions and a provocation to efforts to achieve internal harmony in Syria and consolidate the desired security and stability.

The Sultanate of Oman recalls that this violation is added to Israel's criminal record in the region, which once again confirms its aggressive nature and its continued policies to undermine international legitimacy.

The Sultanate of Oman renews its call on the United Nations Security Council to assume its responsibilities to stop Israeli violations and practices in accordance with international law, stressing its firm position in supporting the Syrian and Palestinian peoples and their legitimate right to restore their occupied territories and achieve full sovereignty over them.
