Oman signs agreements with Mauritania

The Sultanate of Oman has signed a series of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the Islamic Republic of Mauritania during an official visit by the Sultanate’s Foreign Minister, Sayyid Badr Albusaidi to the Mauritanian capital Nouakchott.

These included agreements on political consultations; on diplomatic training and studies; on cooperation in oil, gas, minerals, and energy; and on communications and information technology.

The MoUs were signed by Sayyid Badr on behalf of Oman and by Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad on behalf of Mauritania.

During his stay in Nouakchott, Sayyid Badr visited the headquarters of the General Delegation for Mauritanian Documents and Archives.

He reviewed its efforts in preserving the national memory of Mauritania and organising Government documents and archives. He praised the Delegation's role in maintaining Mauritania's documentary heritage.

The Minister also visited the Mauritanian Diplomatic Academy, where he was briefed on the training programmes provided by the Academy for Mauritanian Foreign Ministry employees.

Sayyid Badr spoke of the importance of the Academy's role in preparing qualified Mauritanian diplomatic personnel to perform their duties, commending the efforts made by the Academy in this regard.
