Oman takes part in meeting of Gulf US Cooperation Council.

The Sultanate of Oman took part in a joint ministerial consultative meeting of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf and the United States.

The meeting was held in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly at its 76th session.

The Sultanate was represented by Dr Mohammed bin Awad Alhassan, the Sultanate's permanent representative to the United Nations in New York

The United States was represented by Secretary of State, Antony Blinken. In a speech to the meeting Mr Blinken acknowledged the positive assistance of Oman in the search for a peaceful settlement to the Yemen crisis.

Dr. Alhassan, reciprocated by assuring Oman’s continued help for the restoration of peace and stability in Yemen.

Further regional, as well as international security issues, were also discussed at the meeting. The significance of the US-Gulf strategic partnership and the need to deepen it was also highlighted. The partnership embodies joint collaboration for common interests and the coordination of positions.
