Oman welcomes UN Security Council’s support for Gaza ceasefire

Published On: 11 June 2024

The Foreign Ministry expressed Oman’s welcome of the resolution passed by the United Nations Security Council supporting the proposal for a comprehensive and permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

It called on all parties to take serious steps towards its implementation without delay.

In a statement, the Ministry said Oman appreciates the efforts made by the State of Qatar, the Arab Republic of Egypt and the United States of America to pass the draft resolution and urges the international community to adopt it and oblige the Israeli occupation state not to evade its responsibilities.

It said Israel should heed international demands to stop the brutal aggression against Gaza to pave the way for the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital in support of peace and stability in the region.
