Oman welcomes US President’s Gaza ceasefire initiative

The Foreign Ministry expressed Oman’s welcome of a Gaza ceasefire initiative proposed by United States President Joe Biden and carried out in cooperation and coordination with Qatar and Egypt.

In a statement, the Ministry affirmed Oman’s support for all efforts to stop the aggression and suffering faced by the Palestinian people and called on all parties to deal positively with the initiatives in a way that preserves their rights and legitimate aspirations.

The statement expressed the hope that the initiative will lead to an end to the Israeli aggression and a complete withdrawal of its forces from Gaza enabling the reconstruction of the Strip to begin and a return to normal life.

It said it hoped it will be a step towards restoring the Palestinian people to their full legitimate rights and establishing their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
