I am honoured to welcome you to the webpage of the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in the Italian Republic.

This page represents a window through which our citizens and friends can obtain useful information (especially when they need to visit the other country) about consular services and procedures as well as general information about relations between Italy and Oman.

The page sheds light on the history of the relations between Oman and Italy, which are constantly growing within a framework of joint action in all fields with the aim of achieving economic, social and cultural development for both countries.

Through this page, the Embassy is keen to convey its message that it stands ready to be a source of for visitors seeking information about the Embassy in particular and Italy in general.

Bilateral relations

Diplomatic relations between the two countries began on January 26th, 1972, and the Sultanate's embassy was opened in Rome on July 1st, 1974.

The relations between the Oman and Italy are based on solid foundations of shared visions and interests in various fields.

Key objectives

The aims of Oman’s mission to Italy include:

  • Strengthening diplomatic and political cooperation
  • Facilitating trade and investment between the two countries
  • Promoting cultural, educational, and scientific exchanges
  • Providing efficient consular services and supporting Omani nationals who visit and live in Italy

Political and diplomatic cooperation

Relations between Oman and Italy are particular due to the presence of common features in the two friendly countries that both aim to achieve justice, peace and stability in the world. The Embassy works to enhance this aspect.

Trade and investment

Italy is one of the most important strategic partners of the Sultanate of Oman in the European Union.

The two countries have signed many agreements and memoranda of understanding that facilitate and increase trade between the two countries.

The Embassy works to deliver a message to the Italian business sector that highlights the pillars of Oman's Vision 2040, which focuses on attracting investment to the Sultanate.

Cultural and educational and exchanges

The Embassy seeks to introduce the Italian community to the arts and culture that Oman enjoys, through artistic and folk exhibitions and student exchanges.

Consular services

The Embassy offers a range of consular services both to Omani citizens visiting Italy and to Italian citizens or residents wishing to visit Oman for tourism or business purposes. These services cover:

  • Authentication of commercial, civil and health documents issued in Italy (certificates of origin, commercial invoices, contracts, commercial agencies, etc.)
