Oman's Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, received a phone call this afternoon from the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

The call saw an exchange of views on the situation in the Gaza Strip, the danger of the continued Israeli military escalation and the humanitarian catastrophe among civilians there, with thousands killed or wounded, bodies accumulating under the rubble and the continued bombing of facilities.

Sayyid Badr stressed the utmost necessity to contain this violence, to secure a cease fire, to allow all available humanitarian corridors to be opened to ensure life saving relief reaches the population and to release hostages.

Sayyid Badr also stated Oman's view which calls for the roots of the Palestinian issue be addressed both politically and through diplomatic negotiations with the participation of all parties to the conflict, in order to reach the internationally desired two-state solution.

Despite differences in views, especially with regard to the classification of resistance movements, the two Ministers agreed to give the humanitarian aspect the highest priority at this critical stage. They agreed on the urgent need to establish a humanitarian truce while working politically to prevent the expansion of the conflict by returning to the path of achieving a just and comprehensive peace and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state in accordance with the rules of international law.
