Sultan Qaboos University makes progress in world rankings

Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) has risen in the QS World University Rankings by Academic Programmes 2025, with its petroleum engineering course rising to 25th place globally. Nursing rose to  32nd place, making it one of the top 50 majors globally.

Six of the university’s courses, made it into the list of the top 300 global courses: accounting and finance, education, chemical engineering, agriculture, environmental sciences and electrical engineering.

Several other disciplines have also seen improvements in their global rankings, to rank among the top 600 worldwide. These include: English Language and Literature, Economics, Mechanical Engineering, Business and Management, Computer Science, Medicine, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology.

These achievements confirm Sultan Qaboos University’s commitment to continuing its path of excellence and leadership in higher education and scientific research, and enhancing its position as a prestigious global academic institution.
