The first Strategic Dialogue coincides with the 190-year anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Amity and Commerce, which established commercial relations between the two countries. It was the first trade agreement the United States signed with an Arab country.
The conference aims to enhance cooperation with Iraq, to consolidate security and stability and to support its efforts towards economic development and reconstruction.
The Minister said Oman's efforts to combat climate change, combined with its policies for economic diversification, offer great possibilities for cooperation with Hungary.
The GCC Supreme Council commended Oman’s announcement on endorsing the year 2050 as the date for achieving zero neutrality in carbon emissions.
The Minister highlighted the principles of Oman’s foreign policy and spoke about climate issues, stressing that Oman welcomes cooperation with Arab and friendly countries in this field.
The Sultanate of Oman has affirmed its commitment to implement a plan for energy transition and decarbonisation with investments of more than USD 190 billion by 2050.
The two countries announced the start of the first Strategic Dialogue between Oman and the United States.
The Minister said that Oman’s participation stems from its conviction of the importance of reducing global warming to levels below 2°C.
