Workshop on challenges of Oman-USA FTA
A video workshop on the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Oman and the United States, organised by the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, discussed the challenges faced by Omani companies in making the most of the agreement.
The Chamber organised the workshop in line with its strategic direction, aligned with Oman Vision 2040, to improve the business environment.
It will submit the outcomes to the joint committee responsible for studying the FTA.
The workshop was presented by Jason Buntin, the visiting US trade representative to Oman and expert in the FTA, with more than 190 participants in attendance.
The aim of the workshop was to enable Omani companies to benefit from the agreement to access the US market. It also highlighted the business opportunities and partnerships the agreement opens between Omani companies and their counterparts abroad.
The workshop reviewed the products and services covered by the agreement and those not included along with the reasons for their exclusion. The various chapters of the FTA were also discussed.
December marks the 15th anniversary of the agreement's signing. Several events, including another workshop, will be held during the month.
